About Voyage East

Not in the traditional sense. Our main journey is a fixed-date small-group cultural journey, designed by us and delivered on the ground by trusted local hosts. We also offer standalone cultural experiences and private planning by request.
We open China one region at a time, in depth. Hangzhou is Chapter One; more regions follow, one chapter at a time. For private planning, we can shape routes across China with our people on the ground.
Travellers who want cultural depth and ease without giving up their independence. Many have travelled thoughtfully elsewhere — Japan, Portugal, Mexico City — and want the same considered approach to China. First-timers and returning Asia travellers both.
Yes — through Private China Planning. We shape nationwide routes with trusted local specialists and one Voyage East standard.

Booking

Send an enquiry with your dates, cities and interests. We'll review it and suggest a journey shape, selected experiences, or a short call if it would help.
Not always. For simple requests we can start by email; for more personal or multi-city trips, a 15-minute call usually saves time and helps us both decide if we're the right fit.
Yes. Cultural experiences can be booked on their own, and the best of them are woven into our small-group Chapters.
Four to eight weeks is comfortable for most journeys. Some experiences need more notice, and short-notice trips may carry a rush fee.

Pricing

Chapter One: Hangzhou starts from £1,580 per person, twin share. Cultural experiences start from £150 per person. Private China Planning starts from a £1,200 planning fee, with third-party costs — hotels, trains, cars, tickets, meals and guides — quoted separately.
Each Chapter lists its own inclusions before booking. Chapter One includes three nights boutique accommodation, listed cultural experiences and local hosts, ground transfers within Hangzhou, most meals, a cultural host on the ground throughout and the China Ready Kit.
No. They're quoted separately where they apply, so you know what is included before you confirm.
A deposit holds your place once dates open, with the balance due ahead of departure. We set out exact terms before you confirm anything. Private planning follows the terms shown in your proposal.

Travel Support

We recommend and help coordinate hotels, but bookings are made in your name or through your preferred channel. We don't mark up accommodation.
We guide you through high-speed rail and can help coordinate tickets; the final booking is in your name.
Yes. We can source and coordinate selected local guides, drivers and translators for the city, experience or journey. Their fees are shown separately.
We don't claim round-the-clock cover — we'd rather be honest. During your confirmed travel dates we offer message support from 9am to 9pm China time, usually replying quickly during those hours.

Boundaries

No. We'll point you to current entry requirements and timing, but the application is yours to complete.
No. We're a cultural planning service, not an emergency or on-call concierge. We always share local emergency numbers and sensible precautions in your China Ready Kit.
We build in reasonable flexibility and adjust where we can. Changes to confirmed third-party bookings follow each provider's terms.
Service fees and third-party bookings have separate terms. We'll set both out clearly in your proposal, before you confirm anything.
