Voyage East is an editorial China travel studio creating culturally rich journeys for travellers who want to see the country with more context, beauty and depth.
Our perspective comes from knowing China from within, while spending years living, working and travelling beyond it.
Who we are
A different way of looking at China.
Voyage East began with a simple feeling: the China we knew was often richer, quieter and more beautiful than the version people encountered through conventional travel. It is there in the details: a tea table set for an unhurried afternoon, a garden composed around a borrowed view, a village workshop where the materials still matter, a meal chosen for the day rather than for a checklist.
We started Voyage East to bring more of that China into view.
We design journeys with an editorial approach: choosing what belongs, leaving out what does not, adding cultural context where it matters, and giving each journey enough space to feel like a place rather than a programme.
Our story
Years abroad made us look at China differently.
We are Noa and Coco, the founders of Voyage East.
Noa has spent many years in London, where his work has crossed art, culture and editorial projects. Coco has lived in Heidelberg, Germany, built her career in technology, and travelled to more than 30 countries.
Living abroad changed the way we looked at home.
The further we travelled, the more we noticed how easily a country can be reduced to a handful of familiar images. China is often presented through its scale, its landmarks, its history or its speed. All of those things are real, but they are only part of it.
The China we wanted to share was more layered: contemporary and old, refined and everyday, sometimes intense and sometimes remarkably quiet.
Voyage East grew from that perspective. We understand China from within, but we also know what it feels like to arrive somewhere as an outsider: what makes a place intriguing, what makes it confusing, and what helps it begin to make sense.

How we work
Travel with a point of view.
Every Voyage East journey begins with a point of view, not a list of attractions. We ask what is worth your time, who can add real context, how one experience should lead into the next, and what can be left out entirely.
That might mean giving tea an entire morning instead of twenty minutes, choosing a hotel because it belongs to the story of a place, or leaving an afternoon deliberately open.
The result is not a fuller itinerary. It is a better-edited one.

Our philosophy
China is too large to be reduced to a checklist.
We believe good travel is partly about what you choose, and partly about what you leave out.
More cities do not always make a better journey. More activities do not always create more meaning. And luxury, on its own, does not make a place more interesting.
We look for experiences with substance, people worth meeting and places that reveal something about how China is lived, made, remembered and changing.
Our aim is not to show you everything.
It is to help you see one part of China clearly, with enough context to understand it, enough ease to enjoy it, and enough space to discover something for yourself.
